My final assignment for my Composition and Drawing Class, where we had to illustrate a scene from the story In a Grove by Ryunosuke Akutagawa using Ukiyo-e composition. It also had to be a diptych. It's a really interesting short story, and I recommend anyone interested in Japanese literature give it a read. I picked the rape scene, because it was something that occurred in all "versions" of the story (essentially the bandit rapes the samurai's wife in front of him). I tried to create a night-marish environment, using strange saturated colors to show the heightened emotion.
Like (here's her fabulous piece ), who also had the class, I had to do value and color studies before I could progress to the final piece, which I won't be posting cause they're kind of boring lol.
Now back to finishing the rest of my Finals /cries
